'The Dissolution of Guilt' - Emotional Landscapes Series
Limited Edition of 11: 50 in x 50 in Dye Sublimation Archival Metal Prints
'The Dissolution of Guilt' and the Emotional Landscape Series I'm currently working on, visually decipher the complex world of our interior emotional states specifically revolving around trauma, grief and healing. Created using AI generated images of inks, oils, florals and color bursts I combine and manipulate dozens of layers (sometimes more) on the digital canvass to reveal internal light sources, organic forms and surreal but intuitively recognizable shapes that visually translate the forces of grief, transition, healing and transformation in our lives.
'The Dissolution of Guilt' is inspired by (actually, really created by) my grief coaching and healing journey. As forces of gravity, water flow, buoyancy, air and tensile friction play on all of the elements in this image so do emotions, thoughts, feelings, circumstances and events play forcefully on our state of mind. I’m fascinated with how all the shapes, billowing clouds, the translucence of smoke and fabrics combine in striking and unpredictable ways much like how our secret internal lives play out.
'The Dissolution of Guilt' is my first foray in utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) to generate initial, conceptual images originated in the emotional layers of my meditations, healing work and coaching sessions. Although I've utilized AI to generate the individual layers (which takes considerable knowledge, time and expertise) I combine all of the images brushstroke after brushstroke on my digital canvas using the same edge of light techniques as in my non-AI assisted artworks.

ABOUT MY ART PROCESS--A NOTE FROM JIM
The bursts and forms in 'The Dissolution of Guilt' are created using my digital palette and brush techniques harnessed and fine-tuned from years of fine art and professional commercial photography. In this work, I utilized Artificial Intelligence Software to generate the initial images. Then combing through, editing and enhancing the images, I intuitively choose the base images from dozens of 'first drafts'. I then uses my Edge of Light technique, painting, dodging, burning and manipulating each image digitally using 1000's of brushstrokes and many, many layers taking many days to complete. I push, pull, coax and sculpt the forms to reveal surrealistic and emotionally taught energies. The dramatic limited edition art prints featuring this 'Emotional Landscapes’ artwork are selling worldwide.
All of my art originates from trauma, grief and healing work--both personally and as a Grief Guide, Coach and Counselor. 'The Dissolution of Guilt' is a culmination of my many years of healing my own profound guilt surrounding the death of my wife, Karen, in 2002. Listening to the many brave people healing from their own traumas, I've found that guilt is a common thread amongst survivors. Not only has our world been blown apart, but we also must heal from the profound weight of our own judgments of ourselves. Guilt is a heavy, energy draining, life deflating emotion that, when uncovered, acknowledged, fully felt and released leaves an entirely new space for freedom and being.
